Luke 17:7-10

7 “Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? 8 Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? 9 Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”

Wow…  I really need to humble myself and realize I’m not worthy of the gifts I’ve been given.  I haven’t done ANYTHING worthy enough for all the blessings I’ve received and what I have yet to receive…  (Like eternal life in Heaven.  woo hoo!!!)

It all comes back with expectations.  Are you expecting things when you do good deeds?  Expecting to get “Thank-you’s” expecting to get noticed, congratulated, rewarded…  If so your heart needs to change.  My husband and I have a home church group we do and we absolutely LOVE IT!  When we started it, we were expecting all the above stuff from our church.  For the first few sessions it was hard, unrewarding, and conversations were difficult and friendships were not formed.  We really started praying for the group to change.  I LOVE how God revealed WE needed to change.  We needed to be doing this group for the right reasons… Now our group is AMAZING and we’ve met life long friends to share life with.

So try to stop expecting stuff and be thankful you’ve been given the opportunity to serve!  Happy Friday!!!
