Acts 6: 1-4

1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”   5 This proposal pleased the whole group.

I love this because it illustrates the art of delegating…  Too often we try to do it all which means nothing gets done well.  We need to set our priorities on what we are called to do and not stretch ourselves too thin.  If we are presented with a need of money or time, it doesn’t always have to be OUR money or OUR time…  If we use our resources to find it from someone else, then that’s OK.  The leaders were asked to help the widows…  They knew that their responsibility was to the ministry of the word so that asked 7 others to take on this task.  It said it PLEASED everyone… Wow, have you ever pleased everyone?  So basically the widows got fed, the leaders kept up with the ministry and delegated the need to seven people who were honored to be helping and doing God’s work.   Win, Win, Win!

Coffee and Coupons was started by me and my dear friend.  She had to step away because she was stretched too thin.  This doesn’t mean she didn’t like it, or that she felt it wasn’t worthy…  It was because she had more important things that were not getting enough attention…  Your relationship with God is first and then your family and if either of those are strained…  you need to give them your full attention.  Too often in this society Moms are expected to be “Super Moms” and do it all…  Well, I’m here to tell  it will “PLEASE EVERYONE” when you do what you are called to do and do it well.  🙂
