Marriage needs love and respect.

The family and I went on vacation last week and we ended it with a 4 day Christian music festival.  At this festival was an author, Dr.  Emersons Eggerichs who wrote Love and Respect.  Now Jay and I have a great marriage and have gotten through a lot like most people, but this speaker was different.  He presented it in such a way that just made so much sense.

I’ve got to order the book…  Next paycheck I will.  I would like to start posting about this in my Living Life section and hope it will help people.

The point that stood out to me most was that Men are wired to Respect…  they are very honorable and have no problem with that.  Women are wired to love and are very emotional and have problem with that piece.  But each of us are called to Love and Respect in The Bible so we need to work on the other piece.

When we start “discussing” and husbands shut down and don’t want to talk about it, it’s because arguing is not honorable to them…  We often feel since they don’t want to talk about it, they must not love us enought.  Since we keep going on the subject and won’t let it go, husbands feel like we don’t respect their decision…  This is the Crazy Circle!

When men are asked what they’d do in this situation:

A robber comes in the house and says one of the family must die, would you step forward to save the rest of your family?

All of them instantly say yes…  Women let’s think about this.  What was the ultimate showing of love by anyone who’s walked this earth?  As a Chrsitian we all must say that Jesus Christ gave his life to save ours…  Well our husbands love us that much too…  So don’t EVER feel unloved.

Our church did the conference a couple of years ago. It was great. When you go to the conference and “analyse” your last disagreement, you can trace the steps in the crazy circle.
