Bruce’s EASY Mac and Cheese

My cousin and best friend’s husband is a FABULOUS comfort food cook.  He whipped this recipe up one night and my kiddos LOVED it.  I love homemade mac and cheese but the kiddos don’t like sharp cheese so this is a great compromise.

Bruce’s Homemade Mac and Cheese

1 package of American Cheese Singles

3 Tbl butter or margarine

3 Tbl flour

3 cups of milk

1 package of noodles

While boiling the noodles, on low heat make a rue by melting the butter and adding the flour.  It should make a ball.   Then add milk.  Make sure to keep this on low so you don’t scorch the milk.  Once hot add one slice of cheese at a time while stirring constantly.

Drain noodles and mix in melted cheese and milk mixture.  Here you can add whatever you’d like: bacon bits, ham, broccoli, peas carrots, or hamburger.  Add whatever your kiddos might like.

Pour everything into a baking dish cover with foil and cook in 350 degree preheated oven for 30 minutes.  Then remove foil and bake for a few minutes more.  Let cool and serve.
