Vegan Detox Update after 1 week….

Jay and I feel GREAT…  My detox plan has allowed us to maintain our workouts without any issues.  Jay doesn’t workout like us…  He’s a crazy man and it’s not uncommon for him to burn 1000’s of calories when he swims, bikes, and runs.  So for him to maintain this energy level is key.  We bumped up our carbs and proteins on Tuesday when we noticed things were not quite enough.  We did this by switching from Uber bars to Odwalla bars.  The banana nut one is my favorite!.  We’ve also ditched the  lemon, ginger, and cayenne water.  We just couldn’t do it.  He never tried it and I did a total of 4 cups and couldn’t think of drinking it again.  Jay’s lost 7 of the 10 lbs he wanted to lose in the first week and I’ve lost 3.  A lot of the weight loss is from the toxins being removed and reduced inflammation in our digestive system so I’m not sure we will get the same results this week and I’m not sure we will maintain all of the weight loss when we start adding some things back into our diet.  But feeling great is REALLY our main goal and we have achieved that in just one week!

My whole family LOVED the millet stuffed peppers.  I bought organic salsa and mixed it in with the millet and black beans so it was a little easier.  We also LOVED the Thai Cashew Quinoa dish but would use a little less red onion.  The Mediterranean Veggie Stew stuffed in gluten-free whole wheat pita were our favorite thought.  SUPER yummy!

These meal plans are for me, but Jay will be eating a leafy salad for lunch and shake mid afternoon.  Our snacks will be Odwalla bar and hummus and veggies.  He has also been eating 2-3 servings of nuts.  if we are hungry at night we’ve been having stove popped popcorn with coconut oil.
