SOAP – 3/27/14

For the next 2 weeks I’ll be following Proverbs31′s daily devotionals to study. I hope it helps me to become closer to my Father!

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. ~ 2 Corinthians 2:11

O-bservations:

We know that we can allow Satan into our lives…  it’s our choice if we allow him in.  He uses many circumstances to trick us.  This section is speaking about forgiveness.  Jesus taught us to love thy enemies.  If we don’t do that then we are following the devil and not Jesus.   Confess all and give it to God and forgive!

A-pplication:

I feel like we need to be in constant forgiveness in the world we live in.  We are rushed and forget and get upset w/ ourselves.  We are driving behind someone going too slow and get angry.  Our kids don’t pick up after themselves.  Our husbands don’t thank us for the meal we prepared.  A friend posts pics of a night out with friends that you weren’t invited to.  Your boss dumps a huge mess in your lap…  etc, etc, etc.  We need to forgive every minute of everyday because that is what Jesus taught us to do.  If we don’t then we are following the devil.

P-rayer:

Dear God, help soften my heart so I can constantly forgive like Jesus did.  Help me give for the sake of giving not for “thank-you’s”.  Help me!  Help me look up and not down. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!

SOAP – 3/21/14

For the next 2 weeks I’ll be following Proverbs31′s daily devotionals to study. I hope it helps me to become closer to my Father! Sorry for no post yesterday. I was feeling better yesterday but ast the day went on I began to feel worse.  I feel good this morning and pray it lasts!

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. ~ John 11:35

O-bservations:

The Joy of the Lord will be ours if we abide in Jesus.  We can abide (or live in accordance with) in Jesus by keeping His commandment: to love one another as He has loved us.  If we do, then we will be full of joy.

A-pplication:

8-10 years ago, I was a gossiper and had little tolerance for people who couldn’t cit-it at work.  There was one particular guy who just didn’t get ANYTHING!  Not to mention, he walked funny.  I would complain about him to anyone who’d listen.  I would even imitate his walk to continue the poking fun and gossip.  There was other people as well.  I can say I had little joy at that time.  When I started learning to love like Jesus, I decided to make a consciuos effort to stop and prayed about it a lot.  This was when I got to start working from home.  Which NOBODY did at that time.  It allowed me distance from the people who gossiped and poked fun so I wouldn’t fall back into my old ways.   My life is full of such joy.  I’m able to end work and be a mom and wife I want to be!

P-rayer:

Dear God, thank-you for Your Son as a perfect example of love so we can know how to love like He did.  From Your word, we know we can only live in perfect joy because of His sacrifice.  Please help me to see what You see so I can love like You love.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!

SOAP – 3/20/14

For the next 2 weeks I’ll be following Proverbs31′s daily devotionals to study.  I hope it helps me to become closer to my Father!  :-)  Sorry for no post yesterday.  I was sick and still a little sick, but feeling a lot better.  Praise God!

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

Jesus wept.  John 11:35

O-bservations:

Jesus love us so much that He weeps when we do.  When Lazarus died, Mary (his sister) was so upset and truly believed in the power of Jesus’ Name.  When he saw how upset she was and the complete trust she had in His Name, he began to weep as well.  His soul became troubled (John 11:33).  When we trust in Jesus, He’ll always be there and always knows exactly what we are going through.

A-pplication:

I’m a cryer…  I admit it.  I cry pretty easily and was always a little ashamed and embarrassed that I couldn’t control it.  I feel for people and I shouldn’t be embarrassed by it.  I often cry when praying for people.  At church Jay and I will pray for people after service.  I remember this lady sobbing as she told her story of losing her husband to cancer and now losing her son to drugs.  As we prayed I bawled my eyes out.  I felt her pain and desperate need to feel’s God’s love.  I need to pray like that ever time.  I need to feel for God’s people as He feels for them.

P-rayer:

Dear God, give me your heart.  Let me feel for people like you do.  I want to pray like I did that day, EVERYDAY!  Thank-you for caring about me so deeply…  so deep I can’t even wrap my head around it.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!

SOAP – 3/18/14

For the next 2 weeks I’ll be following Proverbs31’s daily devotionals to study.  I hope it helps me to become closer to my Father!  :-)

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  ~ Ephesaian 6:12

O-bservations:

Remember God has made each and everyone of us in His image so when we are facing trouble, it’s not flesh or other people we are facing, its evil forces..  Satan.  When we face evil, we need to remember all of God’s power…  truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation and His Word.

A-pplication:

My son has ADHD which I can handle and I believe God allowed for Him for some SUPER reason!  But when it became anger and violence that was when we needed to pull out the big guns.  rather than praying for Gabe, I began praying for God to remove the spirit of Anger and Satan from him.  I began to learn truth and started pouring it into Gabe…  “I can do all things through Christ…” and “With God, all things are possible.”  Jay and I started to show less anger ourselves and gained a little bit of righteousness.  Our home e much more peaceful and our faith grew and my family all have accepted Jesus and their salvation through reading / learning the Word of God.

P-rayer:

Dear God, thank-you for helping us with this spirit of anger that was in our son and our home.  Please continue to help us so we always understand we are not fighting against people you have created but against evil spirits and Satan.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!

SOAP – 3/17/14

Happy St. Patty’s Day!  For the next 2 weeks I’ll be following Proverbs31’s daily devotionals to study.  I hope it helps me to close to my Father!  :-)

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.  ~ Titus 2:3-5

O-bservations:

As a woman who is part of the church,  we are charged to be a living example.  We have guidelines in this passage on how we should act so we can teach the younger generation how to be examples and spread the light to others as well.

A-pplication:

I’m so thankful fo all the women in my life who can teach me how to live my life praising God and not going against Him.  My dear friend, Julie, stays at home, has 4 kids — One a toddler and three whom she homeschools and are all very active, always has time for others, never gossips, encourages me when things are tough, and knows the importance of God.  I’m a better person knowing her and she’s brought me to such a GREAT place.  I’ll never be able to thank her enough.  She helped lead me to Goodmorninggirls.org which lead me to Women Living Well.  That book changed my life and lead me to start Planning People.  Do you have someone in your life that continually leads your closer to God?  If so pray for them!

P-rayer:

Dear God, I am so thankful for Julie and the amazing example of her life.  As she lives her day, please help her to realize how lovely and wonderfully made she is and what a difference she’s making in the lives of her husband, her kids, and all the people who know her.   I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!

Intentionally Focused – 3/14/14 = LAST DAY

Day 56 of the GoodMorningGirls.org bible study called, Intentionally Focused.  Can you believe it’s the last day???  It has been so awesome and I’ve loved sharing with everyone.  I can’t wait to start… Why Easter Matters in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, I’ll be doing my soaps on the Proverbs31.org devotionals.   :-)

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.~ 2 Cor. 7:1

O-bservations:

God has promised to walk with us and receive us as sons and daughters, if we live our lives separate than the unbelievers.  The fear of losing our relationship with God should be enough to not sin.   The sin of the world is on us so we must cleanse ourselves by doing what God expects from us.  There is a difference between receiving salvation and living as a daughter of the Father!

A-pplication:

When Jay and I began going to church 10 years ago, we had many unbelieving friends.  We would often spend Saturday night at a friend’s house drinking to excess and then wasting away our Sunday trying to feel better.  We lived on credit cards.  We would yell at each other or the kids when something angered us.  We had a diet that was whatever was quick and easy and tasted good.  We had accepted Jesus as our Savior and gained our salvation but were doing NOTHING to live like God’s son and daughter.  I think there were a few critical tests God allowed us to go through that helped us to gain that healthy fear of losing God, our Father.

  • My 3 miscarriages
  • Gabe’s health issues and ADHD
  • Jason’s cancer
  • Our near bankruptcy

In all these situations, we exhausted all options that we could do ourselves so the only place left to turn was Him.

I had gotten pregnant and given birth to Abby with no complications so when we decided to have another child we didn’t think there would be any issues.  Boy was I wrong…  I had 3 miscarriages and each one of them ripped my heart out worse than the last.  The 3rd one happened the day after I heard the babies heartbeat.   I was an emotional mess, but up until that point I had been going to Dr, trying different things and not asking for God’s help.  After the 3rd miscarriage I prayed and said that if He allowed be to have another baby, I’d consider the baby to be a message from Him.  When I found out the baby was a boy we decided to name him Gabriel since he was a messenger from God.   All through the pregnancy I had a sinful doubt that I’d miscarry again and never became attached.  After Gabe was born he had all kinds of breathing issues which we discovered to be acid reflux.  Then his behavior issues started which we discovered to be ADHD.  For the first 6 years of his life, Gabe was in and out of doctor’s offices.  Through all that time, energy and prayers I devoted to my son, I gained a love so deep that I never would have had if he had been perfectly fine.  (I’m ashamed to say that, but it’s the truth.)

We just get Gabe’s stuff figured out and we discover Jay had cancer.  I was totally convinced God HAD it covered, and He did because Jay is cancer free!  My  faith was never shaken with Jay’s health…  but him out of work for several months and not making any $ was a different story.  Like I had mentioned, we had previously been living on credit cards and had debit that would make most people eyeballs pop out of their heads so I was afraid.  The debt was crippling and we almost had tossed around the B word…  bankruptcy, but there had to be another way.  Being in debt is one sin, but not paying it back is FAR worse.  We decided to borrow $ against my 401K to get us through.   We are probably 75% better in the finances stuff than we were 5 years ago, praise God!  But we still have more work to do, and we are willing to do it!

Cancer had also woke Jay and I up to our health.  We were both overweight and didn’t exercise.  We started working out and eating better and now we could NEVER go back.  It’s a part of us and always will be.  Through our healthy eating and cutting out the garbage, our son is off his ADHD medication, praise God!  Isn’t it so cool that God could use Gabe’s ADHD to create a love so strong and then cure it with a cancer.  ONLY  GOD!

Through all these trials, we stopped hanging out with our old friends and started hanging out with our new friends at Saturday night service.  We grew deeper in our faith and started to cleanse ourselves.   I still care for our old friends and see them once in a while but I no longer conform to their lives because I have decided to be separate.  I want to call God my Father and I want Him to call me His daughter!

P-rayer:

Dear God, please help me continue to cleanse myself and know what You want me to do.  I want to be Your daughter…  not the one that sneaks out of the house and gives you grey hair…  the one who You are proud of and give a lot of responsibility to!   I pray this in Jesus’ precious name, AMEN!

Intentionally Focused – 3/12/14

Day 52 of the GoodMorningGirls.org bible study called, Intentionally Focused. I have been doing my SOAP’s but not posting due to CRAZY schedule.  I hope you understand.   :-)

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. ~ Philippians 3:19-21

O-bservations:

We can’t set our minds on Earthly things like food or people’s opinions of us.  Our aim needs to be Heaven and achieving our purpose He’s given us here on Earth.  When we arrive in heaven we’ll be full on Jesus and look perfect because He paid the price for that by dying on the cross.  We need to focus on maintaining the temple God gave us so we are not an enemy of the cross.

A-pplication:

I’ve been an enemy of the cross with eating 2 ways…  overeating and eating what every tasted good in that moment even if it meant long-term destruction of my temple and I’ve also been exercise/nutrition crazy where that was my God and it came before my duties of being a Godly wife and mother.  We need to constantly be in check that maintaining the temple is a priority but not above God.  We also need to be careful of what we allow ourselves to partake in…  Can you skip a work-out to spend time with you family when needed but get right back at it the next day?  Some can and some can’t.  Can you eat unhealthy things 1 day but give it up and eat clean the rest of the week?  I can’t have 1/2 cup of ice cream or 10 potato chips so going vegan has helped me tremendously since I puts a focus on certain foods that typically are very healthy.  I “can” eat chips and Oreos and other bad stuff, but it’s a MUCH smaller set and are eliminated by giving up processed foods with chemicals and dyes.  I truly believe God gave us the cancer scare to remove chemicals, dyes and artificial sweeteners from our diet.  We don’t smoke in here or there and I don’t eat cancer causing ingredients in here or there either.  Not only do we feel GREAT but our son is off his ADHD medication.   God gave us our temple and our families temples to look after.  Let’s make sure we are taking care of ALL of them so that we may live a long life and fulfill our purpose!

P-rayer:

Dear God, help me to maintain a balance with nutrition/working out and my wifely and family duties.  I want to be the Christian you’ve called me to be and hope that I’m glorifying you as I go through this journey!  I pray this in Jesus’ precious name, AMEN!

Vegan Detox Update after 1 week….

Jay and I feel GREAT…  My detox plan has allowed us to maintain our workouts without any issues.  Jay doesn’t workout like us…  He’s a crazy man and it’s not uncommon for him to burn 1000’s of calories when he swims, bikes, and runs.  So for him to maintain this energy level is key.  We bumped up our carbs and proteins on Tuesday when we noticed things were not quite enough.  We did this by switching from Uber bars to Odwalla bars.  The banana nut one is my favorite!.  We’ve also ditched the  lemon, ginger, and cayenne water.  We just couldn’t do it.  He never tried it and I did a total of 4 cups and couldn’t think of drinking it again.  Jay’s lost 7 of the 10 lbs he wanted to lose in the first week and I’ve lost 3.  A lot of the weight loss is from the toxins being removed and reduced inflammation in our digestive system so I’m not sure we will get the same results this week and I’m not sure we will maintain all of the weight loss when we start adding some things back into our diet.  But feeling great is REALLY our main goal and we have achieved that in just one week!

Detox2-28-14

My whole family LOVED the millet stuffed peppers.  I bought organic salsa and mixed it in with the millet and black beans so it was a little easier.  We also LOVED the Thai Cashew Quinoa dish but would use a little less red onion.  The Mediterranean Veggie Stew stuffed in gluten-free whole wheat pita were our favorite thought.  SUPER yummy!

These meal plans are for me, but Jay will be eating a leafy salad for lunch and shake mid afternoon.  Our snacks will be Odwalla bar and hummus and veggies.  He has also been eating 2-3 servings of nuts.  if we are hungry at night we’ve been having stove popped popcorn with coconut oil.

Intentionally Focused – 3/6/14

Day 46 of the GoodMorningGirls.org bible study called, Intentionally Focused. I pray it helps me look up to Him more!   :-)

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. ~ Romans 12:13

O-bservations:

We need to be giving and answer the needs of our fellow-man by opening our hearts, our stuff, and our homes.

A-pplication:

Prior to this verse, it states: “Let Love be without hypocrisy”.  Have any of us helped people and then gossiped about why they are in that position or judged them?  I have.  When we first started our LifeGroup we had a rough few years, then people started coming like we had prayed about…  But with people come personalities.  Jay and I would have a weekly venting after everyone left.  Was I being hospitable NO I was being a hypocrite!   We started feeling unfruitful in our LifeGroup and this is why.  We took a session off and regrouped.  I’m not saying everything is perfect…  It never is when people and emotions are involved, but I feel like we are dealing with everyone with love.  The reward far out ways any of the pain.  I have gained a family I can count on.

P-rayer:

Dear God, help me to love more perfectly today…  more like You and be welcoming to those who need to see You clearer.  Be with all the women in this group as we go through the marriage week and I pray their relationships and knowledge grow deeper through You.  I pray this in Jesus’ precious name, AMEN!

Intentionally Focused – 3/4/14

Day 44 of the GoodMorningGirls.org bible study called, Intentionally Focused. I pray it helps me look up to Him more!  I haven’t posted in a couple of days because I wasn’t comfortable sharing with the world.  I hope that’s OK.  🙂

Today’s SOAP:

S-cripture:

She watches over the ways of her household ~ Proverbs 31:27

O-bservations:

We have been given a ministry right in our homes with our kids and our husbands.  Are we “watching” over them.  When our husband is leading us in the wrong direction, have we figured out how to provide loving counsel without a fight?  When our kids start to rebel are we showing them loving discipline?

A-pplication:

As my kids get older they are starting to push me on how far I’ll let them go.  I often try to say, “I’m just doing what God wants me to do,” and explain to them the negative consequences of their actions.  With my daughter it’s often what she puts on social media or time spent texting.  With my son it’s judgemental thoughts or blaming others for his short-comings, especially in sports.  With my husband, I often have to “remind’ him of the big picture.  Our kids need a strong Christian father who would give up things to do for his family and one that makes financial decisions that will help us get out of debt not put us in it.  One whose words are Love not hate, anger, judgemental or jealous.  This is my ministry that I’ve been given!

P-rayer:

Dear God, help me to see my ministry and how to minister to my kids and husband.  Please open my heart so I may see them as you do and convey your will and not my own.  I pray this in Jesus’ precious name, AMEN!
